Spring Fling is Still On
As we write this, about a dozen new COVID positive tests and cases have appeared among pickleball players in the last week to 10 days. Some have symptoms similar to a bad cold: congestion, coughing, sneezing, sore throat, headache. Others are asymptomatic. Naturally, there’s concern about holding the Spring Fling Wednesday.
What we know: Jefferson County Health has not issued an advisory. Schools remain open and maskless. The Chamber of Commerce’s EPRD Board Candidates Forum the same night is still on at Buchanan Rec Center. We’ve seen no outbreaks reported, so it’s hard to tell how pervasive this is.
Nonetheless, we considered postponing the Spring Fling. But, the contract with El Rancho won’t let us out of this date without forfeiture of the total cost. (Staff hired, food ordered and prepared, other events possibly turned away. It’s too much at risk for them.)
So, the Spring Fling is still on: Wednesday, 4:30 - 7 pm at El Rancho Brewing Co. You must make the decision that’s best for you. We’d understand if you decide to stay home. And we’d hope that if you show any symptoms - any at all - you stay home. If you know you’ve been exposed in the last five days, stay home.
If you can, we’d like you to join us, even if it’s just a 15 minute ‘hello.’ Or grab a beer with your bestie and shuffle off to a corner table for a quick one. We can even step outside on the patio if you’re dressed for it (temps in low 30s, mostly cloudy - no significant snowfall.)
Al Buenning, former EPC president, and EPRD Board candidate will be there to introduce himself and answer questions about his candidacy.
