Hiwan Golf Club Announces New Owner as Pickleball Courts Open for the Season
Hiwan Golf Club entered a management and sale agreement with Concert Golf Partners, which has investments in 25 private clubs including The Ranch Country Club in Westminster. Concert will begin managing club operations in early April and assume ownership in the following months, according to Hiwan’s board of directors.
We hope Concert Golf continues to honor Tom Karas’s contract as pickleball pro. He and Sue plan to return to Hiwan May 15.
Sue writes, “We had so much momentum going at the end of last season and can’t wait to see what the 2022 summer season brings. Sarah German, who helped us last year, is busy with EPRD pickleball, but we are hoping to see her assisting again with some of our programs.”
Meanwhile, if you’e a member you can now reserve a pickleball court on the Hiwan website.
71-Year-old Charged with Criminal Mischief for Marking Pickleball Courts on Gym Floor
Breaking news from the Denverite online news source:
“The pickleball problems at the Central Park Recreation Center have reached new levels.
“An arrest warrant was issued last week for 71-year-old Arslan Guney, a Central Park man who is being accused of criminal mischief after drawing boxes on the rec center court floor with permanent marker indicating where pickleball boundaries should be placed.”
In subsequent developments, the district attorney has refused to prosecute Guney, who has been banned from all Denver Parks and Rec facilities, and pickleball play has been suspended at Central Park rec center.
You know, we used to be banished for long hair and rock’n’roll. Now it’s pickleball. We’re not gonna take it.
