Buchanan pickleball facilities to be discussed
A meeting for stakeholders to discuss plans for a field house addition to Buchanan Recreation Center will be held Tuesday, April 8, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. All EPC members are invited to attend the meeting, which will be held at Buchanan Rec Center.
“This will be a good chance to hear where this whole thing really is at,” EPC President Bob Kerr said. He worked with Cory Vander Veen, EPRD executive director, to set up the meeting, which will include EPRD board members and staff as well as Cory.
We need to know specifics about what pickleball facilities will be available at the field house before continuing with a fund-raising campaign to support the project. Please take this opportunity to make you voice heard.
Next EPC board meeting also will be April 8
Our club board of directors will meet Tuesday, April 8, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Evergreen Library. All members are welcome to attend this quarterly meeting. If you haven’t renewed your membership for calendar year 2025, please consider doing so now.
Tournament season is just around the corner
EPC’s popular summer tournament schedule doesn’t get started until June 7 with the annual Round Robin, but you can get those competitive juices flowing and help out a good cause on Sunday, April 27, at Mount Vernon Canyon Club. Boy Scouts of America Troop 888, based in the local mountain area, will sponsor its own round robin from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will be competitive and recreational brackets, with eight courts designated based on the distribution of players who sign up. Cost is $35 per person, with all net proceeds benefiting Troop 888 to help pay for kids to attend camps, replace troop equipment and cover camping expenses. Registration is open now.
If you can't attend the event but would like to make a donation, there is a place in the Buy Tickets section where you can click on "Become a friend of our amazing Troop 888 Scouts."
