Spring Fling Is Gonna Be a Wing-Ding!

April is National Pickleball Month. To celebrate Gig Blitz and Robin Stahnke are hosting a Spring Fling social for all Evergreen-area pickleball players in El Rancho’s Aspen Room and lower patio on Wednesday, April 13, 4:30-7 pm. We’ll enjoy 14 tap beers, several house wines and delicious apps including brisket queso and smoked trout dips, lamb and beef meatballs, beef tenderloin in puff pastries, veggies & humus, charcuterie board and fried pickleball, er, pickle spears. Be sure to thank Gig and Robin for hosting this event for our pickleball community.

No cost to attend. Please let us know if you’re coming so we can get a head count.

Warm-er, Sunny Days Mean We’re Playing at Marshdale

Saturday through Tuesday will boast temps in the 50s (well, low 40s on Monday, but sunny!) Thanks to the olympian efforts of our Snow Angels there will be two playable courts. Get out there around 10 am and be ready to play. C’mon people, it’s springtime in the Rockies.

EPRD Next Steps Class for Novices Starts March 19

There’s still space in Sarah German’s Next Steps class at Wulf Rec Center. Novice players pick up where the Beginners Intro class left off with more work on shots, court position, and game play. Classes are Saturday, March 19 and 26, 10:45 am-12:15 pm. Ages 12 and up.

EPC’s Bringing Pickleball to EPRD’s Kids Summer Camps

USA Pickleball Ambassador Linda Jacobsen and EPRD instructor Sarah German pitched bringing pickleball to Summer Sports and Outdoor Adventure Camps to EPRD’s Athletics Recreation Supervisor Jeff Sweet last week. He enthusiastically embraced their proposal.

Kids ages 6-12 will be introduced to pickleball in 1-2 hour sessions a couple times a week. Activity stations, drills and net play will get the kids moving and swinging the paddle. We’ll need 5-6 volunteer instructors. If you’re interested talk to Linda or Sarah.

Pickleball Food Pub Taking Registrations for Early Spring Doubles Leagues

Men’s, women’s and mixed doubles leagues start Monday-Wednesday, March 28-30 at the Pickleball Food Pub in Westminster. You have to become a member first (no cost), then both partners must register. Or you could call them just because they have a cool number: 720 707-DINK. Too bad the prefix couldn’t be 002.

Get 5% Off Pickleball Central Gear

Linda Jacobsen is sharing a Pickleball Central Ambassador Rewards Discount with EPC members. Use the code arljacobsen at checkout to receive a 5% discount on your purchase. (Not applicable to Pickleball magazine or some equipment). Linda will also get 5% of all coded purchases to use in her efforts as Ambassador. (This code is for EPC members and guests only.)
