New Schedule at Wulf Has Some Surprises
We were caught off guard this morning when we got to Wulf. The new schedule has a half hour of Mixed play on Wednesday now. On Saturday it’s basically back to open play with skill levels divided by courts (Intermediate/Novices on west courts nearest the entrance; Advanced/Upper Intermediate on east courts along the far wall.) In the past that has led to overcrowding, long waits between games and games to 9, which no one likes. But maybe Saturday afternoons won’t be as popular. Let’s see how it goes this weekend and go from there. Other days of the week remain unchanged.
Omicron is Here and Spreading Rapidly, Please Wear Masks to Help Protect the More Vulnerable
Raise your hand if you or someone you know contracted COVID over the holiday break? That’s what we thought: just about everybody. While most of us have symptoms similar to a bad cold for a few days or a week, for some it puts us in the hospital. Our hospitals are busting at the seams: people lined up on beds in the hallways, healthcare workers out sick, the ER overflowing, ambulances transporting patients instead of responding to emergencies, doctors and nurses drained from compassion fatigue.
At Wulf we’re in a public space shared by children, the elderly (hey, that’s us!) and visitors from outside the area. We all know people who aren’t vaccinated. Some of us have family or friends for whom we’re care givers. To pass the virus on to them is a cruel unintended consequence; potentially a hospital sentence, or worse, life-threatening.
So, to wear our masks, properly - over mouth and nose - is to care. If you care about us, our families, your family, we’ll see your eyes and not your smile. But we’ll know you care.
