Geezer Games Tournament One for the Ages: 70+ and 80+
Big turnout for inaugural Geezer Games Tournament today at Marshdale. Nearly 50 players and as many spectators (someone was sure to go down, you can’t not watch a wreck) turned out in the cool dampness. But it was Peter Mathis who was the first to go down. Late rain rendered the courts too slippery to play, but fortunately it was the last game of the tournament.
As usual it is the volunteers that pull off this tournament. Led by Mick Pearce, EPC Tournaments Director, scorekeepers David Huerta, Todd Landrum, Gary Owen, Linda Jacobsen, Maureen Gehlhausen and Jen Miller kept the groups rotating in and out. We got all but one game in before play was called. Also thanks to Jim Mosby and Sheila Canfield Jones for setting up the gear booth and handing out EPC t-shirts to the winners.
