Six Spots Remain for EPC Mixed Doubles Tournament - Get Your Registration in Now
We’re maxing out at 32 teams - eight teams in each of four brackets set by skill level. Just six more teams will fill all four brackets. Start time moved up: 8 am, Wednesday, July 27 at Marshdale. With 64 competitors all eight courts will be going. We’re going to need volunteers for scoring, moving teams on and off the courts, and setting up/tearing down. Let Pat Theno know you can help.
Mixed Doubles is a double-elimination, team event. Games in the upper bracket will be regular scoring to 11, win by one. In the lower (losers) bracket rally scoring to 15, win by one will be used. The winner in the lower bracket will meet the winner of the upper bracket in the championship game - or games if more than one is needed for the upper bracket champion to lose two.
Valuable prizes will go to the top three finishers in each bracket thanks to event sponsor Gig Blitz, Coldwell Banker Realtor® in Evergreen.
Open to EPC members. If you’re not a member yet, be sure to add it to your cart with your Mixed Doubles registration. (Remember to click on Cart (1) in the upper right corner of your screen to complete your transaction.) Registration closes Friday, July 22 or as soon we we get six more teams to sign up.
Two Courts Open at Evergreen Middle School
The North Evergreen Pickleball Players have cleared, cleaned and re-stripped two courts behind EMS.
Al Buenning reports on Thursday evening’s work session: “The two southern courts are all set for renegade pickleball tomorrow beginning at 8 am at EMS. New lines and new nets are looking good. Come and join us before the day heats up.”
Special thanks to volunteers David Durand, Dino Parato, George Crego, Jeff Freeman, Bruce Flinn, and of course Al.
Players plan to show up every Saturday and Sunday morning. Don’t forget to use TeamReach so see who might be there during weekday mornings.

Pro Pickleball Stats: How Do You Match Up?
You can follow Pro Pickleball Stats on Facebook. In a mid-year breakdown, here are highlights. All of these come from doubles championship matches on the PPA Tour.
Highest Third Shot Drop Percentage in a Match: 98%, JW Johnson, Men’s, March 13, Riverland. (55 of 56)
55 out of 56 third shot drops is insane. Next game have everyone keep count of attempts/successes and let’s compare notes. We bet most of us don’t take more than ten attempts or get half in.
Most ATPs in a Match: 3, Matt Wright (Men’s, March 13, Riverland), Riley Newman (Mixed, April 10, Red Rock), Lucy Kovalova (Mixed, June 12, Orange County)
Wonder how many of us have 3 successful around-the-post shots in a season. Or, how about in a lifetime?!
Most ERNEs in a Match: 10, Tyler Loong, Men’s, May 8, North Carolina
Now that’s just standing there and waiting for them. Why dink at the opponent directly across the net from you that many times in a game when he’s smashing the ball back at you for 10 points in a game.
Longest Rally: 82 shots, Men’s, Feb 27, Nat'l Indoor. Ben Johns and Collin Johns vs AJ Koller and Thomas Wilson
Are breaks allowed when you get over 60 shots?
Most Offensive Lobs in Match: 8, Matt Wright, Men’s, May 22, Atlanta Open
Oh that’s nothing. Bud Parr averages more than that every game.
