USAPA High School Grant Awarded to EPC
The USA Pickleball Association has approved a $350 grant to EPC for nets and balls to be donated to Evergreen High School’s phys. ed. program under the direction of Beau Brake. In the grant application, EPC wrote, “Two EHS gyms accommodate seven courts. In the small gym, three Wilson nets are used. However, in the large gym two volleyball-type nets are strung from both walls to a center post to accommodate four courts. Hardly regulation height or length. The purpose of the grant is to purchase four regulation nets. EPC is willing to match the USAPA grant up to the maximum $350 to cover the cost of all four nets.” In addition to the nets, EPC committed to purchasing 24 badly needed pickleballs for the high school.
This is the second donation EPC has made to the EHS pickleball program. In 2018 EPC members donated more than 30 new Paddletek Club paddles to the school. Combined, EPC members have donated nearly $1,800 in equipment to EHS. To help cover EPC’s matching gift of $350, you can make a donation at the Feb. 10 Social at the Wild Game. Or, you can make a donation here.
What’s more, several EPC members have donated their time to help instruct high school players, including Monty, Owen, Andrew, Jerry Beth and Gary, Sarah, David, and Vic among others. This year, for example. Beau brought his entire class to Wulf for two days of play with the “seniors.”
Evergreen Pickleball Club’s purpose - to promote and elevate pickleball in our mountain community - couldn’t happen without its members’ continued enthusiasm and support. Thank you
