Reminder: 3rd Friday August Mixer at Marshdale
Friday, August 16th is this month’s Mixer at Marshdale. This is NOT a club activity and all are welcome. This Mixer is a fun time for all levels: from our very new to top tournament players to come out and mix it up. Play starts at 4:00 pm. followed by appetizers under the pavilion. Spouses and friends are also welcome, even if they do not play and just want to see who you are talking about day after day, and what this pickleball is all about.
This month we are kicking it up a notch. This mixer happens to fall on June Flinn and my birthdays. Other Leos celebrating are Bob Taber and Bud Parr who share August 4th birthdays. Please bring an appetizer to share, and drink of your choice, and the answer to the question “ Will there be cake?” Is YES!
I have recently learned that EPRD board member, Bill May (who lives behind Marshdale park) has been finding trash after events. This was brought up for discussion at a recent EPRD board meeting. We all know there are many events going on at Marshdale during the week, so I do not believe this is totally directed at the pickleball players. For those of us playing at Marshdale, if you are first to arrive, please take a look around to see if there is trash strewn around the pavilion, or on or around the court. If so, please note it on the calendar log that I will add to the case with the sign up sheets. Last to leave, please make sure balls and any clothing or water bottles left are stored in the lock box. Trash should be picked up and tossed. Sorry to put it on those players last on the courts and out the gate - be it noon or later afternoon - but those few extra minutes to help and our willingness to keep the courts and surrounding area clean will not go unnoticed.
I have not heard any more requests coming from the tennis courts. I thank you all for taking the time to look before entering and exiting the gate so as not to interrupt a point while a game is being played.
FOR EPC MEMBERS: the Fall Round Robin is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 17. Registration is open here. Total of 8 players per 4 skill-level bracket with a wait list for each level. The 2.5 bracket is filled, but sign up on the wait list as substitutes are always needed. We will do our best to get as many players participating as possible. Deadline is midnight Tuesday, September 10.
See you at Pickleball!
