Marshdale Tennis Players Have a Request
With the popularity of pickleball and our increasing numbers at Marshdale, I have been asked by a couple of our neighboring tennis players if I could please ask our pickleball players to be aware when entering and exiting to wait for the point they are playing to be over before crossing through the entrance/exit gate, and then please close the gate behind you.
Also reported is we are “rude” and very “noisy.” Now the first request I can understand and I hope we all agree we can take that extra minute to make sure they are not in the middle of a point and respect this request, which should take away the “rude” label.
As far as noisy, well I am afraid that the sound of laughter and the fun we have on our pickleball courts is something tennis players are going to have to deal with. After all, they have the option of four outdoor courts at Wulf, whereas Marshdale is our only outdoor option.
It might be nice if we show them we are a friendly group, maybe wave or acknowledge them with a “hello” when they come onto the court. Although I don’t think we need to stop our game as they walk in, but if we are on the bench or waiting for a game, it might be worth a smile or friendly nod.
Just a reminder to our Marshdale players: courts open at 8:00 am and close at 8:00 pm out of respect for the neighborhood. Showing appreciation for the courts and respecting the homeowners in the area will go a long way toward working with EPRD with requests for more times and possibly more courts in the future.
