Linda Strauss & Partner, and Lynne Yockey & Owen Ellis Take Gold in Mixed Doubles

On the final day Sunday at the Colorado Open Linda Strauss brought out the broom and swept her third and final event for Gold in as many days. Linda won Friday with Lynne in Women’s Doubles 3.5, Saturday in Women’s Singles 3.5 and again yesterday in Mixed Doubles 65+ 4.0. Impressive play on three sweltering days on the court. Congratulations Linda!
Lynne Yockey took her second Gold medal in as many events, playing with Owen Ellis in Mixed Doubles 60+ 3.5. Owen’s Gold added to his hardware of a Silver in Men’s Singles 3.5 and a Bronze in Men’s Doubles 4.0 with Andrew Stevens. Congratulations to Lynne and Owen!
Unfortunately, Kathy Fasold & David Smith and Randy Watson & partner did not make it to the medal round in Mixed Doubles 65+ 3.0 but were one win away from playing each other in the quarter finals. Andrew & Marijane Stevens gave it a go in Mixed Doubles 19-49 4.0, but were outmatched in the first round.
