Some things you may not know about EChO . . .
EChO has been offering support to neighbors in our community for over 35 years.
22% of area residents receive benefits and/or services from EChO. Yes, you read that right! 22%
EChO is LOCAL. No funds go elsewhere and there are NO high-paid executives siphoning off resources.
EChO maintains the only homeless shelter in the 4th largest county in Colorado.
The EChO food pantry offers nourishment to HUNDREDS of our community members in need each week.
EChO Case Managers successfully work to place community members in housing of their own with basic furnishings.
There are over 500 volunteers - your neighbors - working to support EChO outreach efforts. (Including a number of EPC Members)
From Dale Flanders, Executive Director of EChO:
‘You’ve probably seen the recent stories about the challenges nonprofits are facing, especially in the human services sector. Even Governor Polis issued a challenge for people in the state to support local food pantries. At EChO, our team has worked tirelessly to prepare for moments like this—building diverse revenue streams and cultivating a resilient, adaptable team that includes hundreds of volunteers serving our community with dignity and compassion.
Still, right now, we’re facing what can only be described as a perfect storm.
Economic uncertainty, shifting foundation priorities, and emerging changes in government policy are creating powerful headwinds for nonprofits like us. The government shutdown and pause on SNAP benefits will hit our clients especially hard, driving an even greater demand for our front-line services. Our homeless shelter opened in late October with the largest preregistration we’ve ever seen. On top of that, a few anticipated third-quarter revenues didn’t materialize as expected, leaving the organization in a very tight financial position. We’re doing everything we can to tighten our belts, develop cost savings, and run as lean and efficiently as possible.
And yet… we remain steadfast and full of expectancy. Because storms, as fierce as they can be, also reveal the strength of what’s been built.
For 35 years, EChO has stood as a safe harbor for neighbors in need—and thanks to the generosity of our community, we’ve always found a way through. Today, we’re calling on that same spirit of abundance and community to carry us forward once again.
Your gift between now and the end of the year will help EChO meet the rising tide of need with compassion, stability, and hope. It will also set us up for success in 2026. Any gift helps. Together, we can ensure that no one faces this storm alone.’
